The latest updates to Lightroom CC (1.3), Lightroom Classic CC (7.3), and Adobe Camera Raw (ACR, 10.3) add profiles, an updated way to define colors in your photos. Profiles are a lot like presets, but they work at a more fundamental level. You can assign a profile as a starting point and then build adjustments on top of the profile.
Over at CreativePro.com, I write about what profiles are and how to use them: Using Lightroom Profiles.
Profiles are also present in Lightroom CC for iPad and Android, which helps keep color consistent between devices.
The timing for this new feature means I haven’t yet incorporated profiles into my book Take Control of Lightroom CC, but it’s on the list for the next revision. In the meantime, learn the basics over at Creative Pro!
