Leica SL3 Sample Gallery at DPReview

I got to shoot with Leica’s new workhorse camera, the SL3.

Leica today unveiled the SL3, the latest version of what I think of as their “workhorse” camera. It has a more traditional SLR form factor, is weather sealed, and (hand-)built like a tank. It’s also somewhat smaller and lighter than the SL2. Crucially, in terms of specs, it now has a 60 megapixel backside-illuminated sensor, phase-detect autofocus, and an articulating LCD (which the SL2 lacked). Also important to note: the body alone costs $7,000.

I was able to shoot with it for a couple of weeks on assignment for DPReview. We were given only the camera body and a 90mm prime lens, so I had an extra challenge when building the sample gallery, but it was a good challenge. Richard Butler at DPReview has posted the initial review of the camera; you’ll find my Sample Gallery at the bottom of the article: Leica SL3 initial review. Keep in mind this was a prerelease model, but the images seem pretty clean.

Here are a couple more photos, but be sure to view the Sample Gallery where you can download the raw and JPEG versions.

  1. Hi, where is the Sample Gallery to view Raw Images?
