After using my original-model AirPods nearly every day for three years, the batteries finally got to the point where they would deplete after only 20 minutes or so. I replaced them with a set of AirPods Pro, and put the first set into a drawer (next to an old iSight camera). I didn’t want to just throw them away, and I know that recycling them is difficult.
Enter Podswap, a women-run small company that’s figured out a way to replace AirPods batteries in a way that’s economical. For $60, I sent my dead buds to them and in a few days received a new set with new batteries. I wrote about the experience at TidBITS: Refresh Your Old AirPods with a Podswap.
