Photos for OS X Application Currently Missing at Apple.com

While Apple was announcing its record-breaking quarterly financial results (not just breaking its own records, but earning $74.6 billion, the most revenue of any company in any quarter in history), elves at the Apple site were busy.

According to 9to5 Mac, there’s now no mention of the successor to iPhoto and Aperture on Apple’s Web site.

Has the application been delayed? Shelved? Is Apple on the verge or releasing it and we’re seeing the preparation for new information to appear? I don’t know. I’ve reached out to my PR contacts at Apple to see if they can shed light on the situation.

But I’m certainly curious.

  1. Following so many platform/software updates, my iPhoto library is a mess. I don’t know what I’ve got nor where to find it. As Apple gets more and more quiet about Photos, it’s beginning to sound like trouble in River City. Maybe now’s the time to cut the strings and jump to LR/PSE. I hate the thought of that learning curve but what’s a guy to do? I hate my current state of disarray.

    1. I mentioned this briefly in my post, but thinking more about it I wouldn’t be surprised if maybe they’re pulling the info today for an imminent launch of the new software. It wouldn’t surprise me, knowing Apple. But it would be a little odd to remove the other content entirely before updating the site. Still, it’s a corporate Web site, and I’m sure lots of pieces need to fit together in the right way for things to happen.

I guess what I’m saying is, nah, I don’t know what’s going on either. 🙂
