Article: Updating Raw Process Versions

Have you ever opened an old raw image file and been confronted with an alert or warning badge? Over at Lynda.com, I explain what’s going on: Editing Old Photos Files? Update to Latest Raw Process. Likely the raw image was saved with an older raw process version—the algorithms that translate the raw image information into a photo you can see.

Process versions don’t change often—Adobe has updated theirs only twice since 2003—but recent versions take advantage of new algorithms and open up new editing features.
