17-inch MacBook Pro Announced

I’ve had my head buried in work lately, so I almost missed Apple’s announcement of the 17-inch MacBook Pro yesterday. Although not a surprise that it would be coming, I’m happy to see a few features that make this laptop a great portable video studio: FireWire 800, a 4x double-layer SuperDrive, three USB ports, and of course, that 17-inch 1680 by 1050-resolution screen. And it’s still just an inch thick. Personally, the 17-inch size is too big for me, since I carry my PowerBook with me everywhere, but if I really needed to do video editing in the field, I’d want one of these. They’re shipping next week for $2800.
