My author copies arrived last week, which means that iMovie HD & iDVD 5 for Macintosh: Visual QuickStart Guide is now officially available! (As of the afternoon of May 29, Amazon still lists it as not yet shipping, but when I get my copies it’s usually just a few days before the title hits Amazon and store shelves.)
What’s new in this edition? Obviously, I include HD editing, but more important is comprehensive coverage of how iMovie HD mixes and matches formats. To my surprise, I spent more time testing the interplay of DV, DV-Widescreen, and HD footage than I expected. Also new is iDVD’s great new Save As Disc Image feature, enabling you to create a “burned” project without an internal DVD-burner.
Amazon lists the book at $13.59, which is 32 percent off the $19.99 cover price. You can also buy it directly through Peachpit for as low as $11.99.
As part of this announcement, I also want to call attention to a few people who were instrumental in helping me get it done, from the acknowledgements page:
Derick Mains, Paul Towner, and Keri Walker at Apple for answering my questions and providing resources when I needed them.
And Kevin, Kristi, and the rest of the folks at the University Village Apple Store (Seattle) for providing answers, assistance, and letting me test some things on their equipment.
