Saw on CNN.com this morning that Bush has taken the pledge and started his second term. I’m going to try my best to stay away from the news and coverage of his extravagent inauguration. I understand that all that money ($40 million) is going toward rewarding and schmoozing fat cats who are benefiting from Bush’s elitist policies, but he really should have toned it down. I only hope this Ceasar finally wakes up to the reality he’s sown. But (paraphrasing John Stewart on a recent episode of the Daily Show) for a leader who says he doesn’t read the news, is surrounded by people for whom loyalty is valued above truth, and who appears in “town hall meetings” filled with hand-picked supporters, the chance of reality breaking that bubble is pretty slim indeed.
