My brain is exploding today. Partly that’s because I was up until 3 am editing today’s super-packed TidBITS issue (which will go online later today, and by the way, TidBITS turns 15 this week!). But also because Apple announced Final Cut Studio at NAB, which includes Final Cut Pro 5 (with native HDV support, not using the Apple Intermediate Codec like iMovie HD and Final Cut Express HD do), DVD Studio Pro 4, Motion 2, and Soundtrack Pro. Macworld has a good roundup of what’s new, and it all looks cool.
Further spreading my synapses apart is today’s news that Adobe is buying Macromedia. I co-authored three editions of Real World Adobe GoLive, so to see Adobe swallow up Macromedia makes me think that GoLive is dead within a year. Thank goodness we didn’t update the book for GoLive CS or the just-announced GoLive CS2.
And finally, Mike Curtis at HD for Indies is at NAB and blogging the heck out of it. It’s going to take me a while to read through all the great information he’s putting up. In the meantime, I’m cranking along on the revision of iMovie HD and iDVD 5 for Mac OS X: Visual QuickStart Guide, which goes to the printer next week!
It’s going to be a high-caffeine week, for sure.
