iMovie Make-a-Wish Event

I’ll be at the University Village Apple Store in Seattle this Sunday (Dec 12, 5:30 pm) as part of a Make-a-Wish Foundation event. The girl receiving the wish, Wendy, will be presented with a 15-inch PowerBook G4 (loaded with iLife ’04) so she can shoot and edit movies of her friends. I’ll be giving an iMovie tutorial in the theater section, using video we shoot of the event itself. (She’s also receiving an autographed set of my books.) Stop by to see a wish come true!

Putting together this event has also been a great example of how generous the iMovie (and Mac) community is. My sister is the Wish Coordinator for Wendy’s wish, so I put her in contact with a few friends and developers. As a result, Wendy will also be receiving (for free) a Contour Design Shuttle Express; a complete set of GeeThree Slick iMovie plug-ins; and a one-year VIP subscription to MyMovieFest.com (and I think a few other things are in the works). When you think about buying iMovie-related products, know that these companies and others are interested in more than just their bottom lines. I want to thank them and the Apple Store employees who have made this happen.
