When I was on vacation a couple years ago, I spied an older gentleman walking around with a Canon XL1. Although he may have been a more experienced shooter, I got the impression that the $3,500 camera was just his tourist gear: I envisioned this man as a wealthy executive telling his secretary to buy him “the best videocamera you can find” for the trip. I was envious that he was hauling around the fairly large, but sophisticated machine.
Well, now I’m envious again. Canon has announced the XL2, which seems to improve on the shortcomings of the XL1 and XL1-S. Go. Drool.
